Too many children in Vanuatu are denied the opportunity to go to school because they are mentally or physically disabled. There are many reasons for this, including parental attitudes to education, the cost of schooling, overcrowded schools with inadequate facilities and resources, and rejection by schools and teachers.

Pikinini Playtime, a school in Port-Vila, has been accepting children with disabilities who have been rejected from other schools, or cannot afford to attend. Pikinini Playtime partners with the Vanuatu Society for Disabled People (VSDP) to provide places for these children with the help of some generous sponsors.

Give a Kid a Chance has been created as an independent fund that can generate more sponsorships for these children to attend Pikinini Playtime, or any school willing to take them. The fund is administered by the Butterfly Trust, who will partner with schools and kindergartens across Vanuatu that are willing to educate children with disabilities.

The sponsorships created by the fund are to cover everything the child needs to attend school. This includes school fees, school uniforms, morning tea and lunch, school supplies, special needs equipment and transport to and from school.

*100% of all donations raised for sponsoring children with disabilities go to directly to school fees and other related costs. No deductions are made for administrative costs.
