Disability Support Program

In Vanuatu, as elsewhere, it is estimated that 12% of the population have some form of disability. Here however, most children with a disability don't go to school. There are many reasons for this  including parental attitudes to education, the cost of schooling, inadequate faclities and resources, overcrowded schools and rejection by schools and teachers.

Our Disability Support Program provides sponsored access to inclusive education for children with a disability.

We partner with the Vanuatu Society for People with Disabilities (VSPD) and sponsors in both Vanuatu and abroad:

  • to identify children who will most benefit from the opportunity,

  • to provide free access to quality international standard education; and

  • to support the child and their family so that they can get maximum benefit from the program.

We currently have around seventy children with disabilities attending Pikinini Playtime and want to maintain that number at around 12% of our student population. Many of these children are sponsored by the school or external sponsors. As more sponsors join our program we will be able to provide places for more children.

Sponsors literally change the lives of these children by providing them with a chance of gaining an educational foundation that will equip them for a lifetime of learning. If you would like to make a real difference  in the life of a child please consider joining our sponsorship program.
